Destinee McElroy Named Spark General Manager

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma — The Oklahoma City Spark is thrilled to announce Destinee McElroy as the team's General Manager. McElroy brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the sport, having served as the Director of Corporate Sponsorships for the Spark during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Her leadership and dedication were pivotal in securing key partnerships that have helped elevate the team’s profile in the professional softball world.

McElroy’s impressive professional background includes a seven-year tenure at USA Softball, where she served as an Event Manager and Director of Sport Development. In this role, she collaborated with Major League Baseball to lead the Play Ball and Sport Development initiatives, which aimed to grow and enhance the sport at all levels. Her commitment to the game extended to her role on the selection committee for Team USA from 2016-2020 and her current positions on the Athletes Advisory Council and Governance Review Committee with USA Softball.

In addition to her administrative roles, you may have also heard McElroy on a number of broadcasts as a color analyst for Sooner Sports, ESPN+, The Franchise, MLB.com, and Westwood One Radio’s coverage of the Women’s College World Series. Her deep understanding of the game, both on and off the field, is further underscored by her experience as a National Champion with the University of Oklahoma (2011-2014) and a former member of Team USA (2010-2014).

Destinee McElroy is also an active member of the community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Rookie League Foundation with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree, which complements her extensive experience in sports management.

In her new role as General Manager of the OKC Spark, McElroy will oversee team operations, corporate partnerships, and athlete contracts. She will also be heavily involved in player recruitment and development with both the Spark and Driving Force Sports, the official equipment provider of the team. Her skills and experience will be valued in contractual negotiations and professional softball growth and development.

“We are pleased to welcome her into this role as we know she will continue to push the Spark to the forefront of all conversations where women need to be represented” said Spark owner Dr. Tina Floyd. The OKC Spark is confident that under McElroy’s guidance, the team will continue to reach new heights and build on its recent successes.
